The Ayrshire TTA are part of the Traditional Taekwondo Association headed by Grandmaster T.K Loh 8th Dan.
The first Ayrshire club (Ayr) was opened on in 1988 by Robert Gray 2nd Dan who moved to the area through work and study, Robert trained directly under Grandmaster Loh and attained Blackbelt whilst training within the Cumbernauld class.
The Ayr class expanded quickly and in 1994 Robert opened a second club in Kilmarnock, Robert then passed on the Kilmarnock club to Alan Brown (then 1st Dan). Robert immigrated to Germany and eventually America through work in 1995 and passed the running of the Ayr Club to Stephen Sutherland (then 1st Dan).
Alan followed this by opening the Drongan club in 1996 as a 2nd Dan. A forth club was opened in Stewarton in 2006 by Hugh Steele. In 2006 due to business reasons Stephen passed the Ayr club to Alan Brown (now 4th Dan) who in turn passed the running of the Kilmarnock class to Graham Short (now 2nd Dan) and the Drongan class to Kevin Heaney 1st Dan.
Currently Alan is assisted by Jeff Scobie 1st Dan at the Ayr club, Graham is assisted by Kieran Howie 2nd Dan in Kilmarnock and Kevin is assisted by Julie Wharrie 2nd Kup.
