ABOUT THE TTA
THE BEST...
As one of the most dynamic and popular martial arts in the world, Taekwondo teaches the student to combine mind, body and spirit. It helps build a strong healthy body and a keen focused mind.
Chief instructor Grandmaster Loh 9th Dan, himself a Specialised Orthopaedic Physiotherapist ensures the latest scientific exercise and sports theories are promoted along with the traditional values of the martial arts.
All our certified instructors are taught and regularly examined by Grandmaster Loh, indeed all students are graded by Grandmaster Loh and have the opportunity to train and be taught by one of the most respected Grandmasters in the World.
WE HAVE MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES IN AYRSHIRE TO SUIT ALL FITNESS LEVELS
The ultimate goal of Taekwondo is the attainment of a harmony of physical, mental and spiritual centres to achieve what is often referred to as 'oneness'. This means that a person will do the right thing at the right time without uncertainty, be it avoiding a deadly blow, expressing gratitude or coming to another's aid. Such a person is said to express an intuitive response to life unencumbered by hesitation or self-doubt.
The road to this goal is long and arduous and for some may seem impossible. Still, even after a relatively short period of training many will begin to experience a heightened sense of calm and focus. Students will find that they can apply this to other aspects of their life such as work, and parents will notice an improvement in their children's self discipline and integrity. The reason for this is as follows: One of the most stressful things a person can do is fight, so if a person can fight with their mind free of tension, fear or anger, then other events in their life that might otherwise be a source of stress, can be handled objectively and effortlessly. This is achieved as the novice undergoes the following:

THE AYRSHIRE Taekwondo
JOURNEY SO FAR...
The first Ayrshire Taekwondo club (Ayr) was opened on in 1988 by Robert Gray 2nd Dan who moved to the area through work and study, Robert trained directly under Grandmaster Loh and attained Blackbelt whilst training within the Cumbernauld class.
The Ayr class expanded quickly and in 1994 Robert opened a second club in Kilmarnock, Robert then passed on the Kilmarnock club to Alan Brown (then 1st Dan). Robert immigrated to Germany and eventually America through work in 1995 and passed the running of the Ayr Club to Stephen Sutherland (then 1st Dan).
Alan followed this by opening the Drongan club in 1996 as a 2nd Dan.
A fourth club was opened in Stewarton in 2006 by Hugh Steele. In 2006 due to business reasons Stephen passed the Ayr club to Alan Brown (now 4th Dan) who in turn passed the running of the Kilmarnock class to Graham Short (now 3rd Dan) and the Drongan class to Kevin Heaney 1st Dan. Alan now runs the Drongan class as Kevin recently retired from being an instructor.
Currently Alan is assisted by Jeff Scobie 3rd Dan at the Ayr club. Alan also takes the club at Drongan Primary School.
A 5th Ayrshire Taekwondo club is now open in Irvine under Alan Christie (1st Dan)
who is the instructor for the club.
